Sign in and generate a key

Sign in with Steam above and press Generate API Key. The key is shown once — it starts with sa_live_ — so copy it somewhere safe before you navigate away.

Send it as a header

Every request needs Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY. The free tier answers one item per call — URL-encode the item name, wear included:

Get the name exactly right

The name has to match Steam's market hash name exactly, wear included. Miss it — or leave the wear off — and you get a 404 with the real names under suggestions:

What each tier unlocks

The game segment is always csgo or dota2 — never a Steam app id (730 is not a game here).

• Free GET /v1/prices — one item per request
• Basic GET /v2/csgo — all 41k items (~25 MB) — and GET /v2/csgo/{market_name}
• Enterprise GET /v3/markets — lowest ask on 40+ markets
• Ultimate GET /v4/depth/{name}, /v4/sales/{name}, /v4/history/{name}, /v4/listings/{name}, /v4/index, /v4/float-bands/{name}

Poll without re-downloading

Send back the ETag from the last response as If-None-Match. Nothing changed since your last poll gets you a 304 with no body — it costs nothing.
