How CS2 Case Opening Works
Each CS2 case contains a pool of weapon skins across five rarity tiers. When you open a case using a key ($2.49), the game randomly selects a rarity tier based on fixed probabilities, then picks a random skin from that tier. There is also a 10% chance any weapon skin will be StatTrak, which tracks your kills in-game and significantly increases its market value.
CS2 Case Drop Rates
With knife odds at just 1 in 385, you would need to spend approximately $960+ on average to unbox a single knife or pair of gloves. This simulator lets you experience thousands of case openings instantly to understand these odds firsthand.

What are the CS2 case opening odds?
Valve confirmed drop rates: Mil-Spec (Blue) 79.92%, Restricted (Purple) 15.98%, Classified (Pink) 3.20%, Covert (Red) 0.64%, Special/Knife/Gloves (Gold) 0.26%. StatTrak items have a 10% chance on any weapon skin.
Is this case simulator free?
Yes, completely free with no signup required. No real money is involved. This simulator uses real Valve drop rates and live market prices to show you what opening cases is actually worth.
How accurate are the drop rates?
We use the exact drop rates disclosed by Valve in 2017 and confirmed by community analysis of millions of case openings. The same odds apply to every CS2 weapon case.
What are the odds of getting a knife?
The chance of unboxing a knife or gloves is approximately 0.26%, or about 1 in 385 cases. At $2.49 per key plus the case price, that is roughly $960+ on average to unbox one.
Are CS2 cases profitable to open?
On average, no. The expected return is typically 40-60% of the cost. The house edge means Valve profits on every case opened. Use this simulator to see for yourself before spending real money.
How are skin prices calculated?
Prices come from SteamAnalyst's live market data, aggregating prices across multiple CS2 marketplaces. The simulator uses wear-specific pricing, so a Factory New skin is valued higher than Battle-Scarred.
What is the best case to open in CS2?
No case has a positive expected value, but cases with high-value Covert skins and rare knife finishes have less negative ROI. Use the bulk open feature to compare different cases and find which ones lose the least on average.
What is a StatTrak weapon?
StatTrak weapons track your kills in-game. They have a 10% chance of dropping from any case and are typically worth 2-10x more than normal versions, making them a key factor in case opening profitability.
