How much do CS2 skin quotes differ across marketplaces?
A snapshot of 274 quotes for 12 exact Factory New variants across 29 marketplaces.

A 6.2% median quote gap in this sample
For each skin, we compared the lowest available marketplace quote we collected with the median quote for that same variant. The median of those twelve percentage gaps was 6.2%. This measures variation in advertised quotes before checkout costs; it is not a promised saving.
The sample comes from the first 25 cards in SteamAnalyst's Most Popular homepage grid on September 8. Twelve had a Factory New variant; the other thirteen were wearless items and were excluded. These twelve are all standard variants, with no StatTrak or Souvenir versions. The two Doppler entries retain the specific phase named below.
This is a small convenience sample concentrated in expensive skins. It does not estimate the gap for the entire CS2 or CSGO skin market, and our homepage popularity order is not a measure of market-wide sales volume.

The largest lowest-to-median gap was 14.3% for ★ Karambit | Doppler (Factory New) Black Pearl; the smallest was 4.0% for ★ Karambit | Fade (Factory New). Neither identifies a mispriced listing: individual floats, patterns, stickers, platform balances and transaction costs can affect what a buyer actually receives and pays.
Methodology and limitations
- Match the item. Use one database item ID per exact weapon, finish, Factory New wear, standard variant and named Doppler phase. Matching these categories does not match individual float values, pattern seeds or applied stickers.
- Read recent quotes. Use SteamAnalyst's item-comparison feeds from its two price stores, restricted to positive quotes refreshed within 24 hours. If both stores contain a marketplace, keep its lowest quote; ties use the newer timestamp.
- Apply the existing comparison filter. Remove quotes at or above $1 million. With at least three market observations, also apply the pricing engine's median-ratio and z-score outlier rules. Steam quotes participate in this upstream filter but are excluded from the final study because Steam Wallet prices are a different comparison.
- Require coverage. Keep an item only if at least three non-Steam marketplaces remain. All twelve selected items qualified. Each marketplace contributes one observation per item; the dataset contains no sales-volume weighting.
- Calculate the gap. For each item:
(median quote − lowest quote) ÷ median quote × 100. For an even number of quotes, average the two middle observations. The headline is the median of the twelve item gaps, calculated before rounding.
These are feed quotes, not verified completed sales or executable checkout totals. Third-party platforms can use different cash, credit and exchange pricing models. Payment, deposit, withdrawal and currency-conversion costs are not added; availability, trade locks and account restrictions are not tested. Do not treat the gap as arbitrage profit or compare platform balances as if they were interchangeable cash.
The oldest included refresh was September 7 at 23:03:49 UTC; the newest was September 8 at 13:02:50 UTC. Prices can change between observations. We do not infer price trends, investment returns or total market value from this one snapshot.
